Glimpses into Linton's Past - Part II
FOREWORD
This booklet has been published by the Historical Society in order to increase people's awareness of the history of our beautiful village. It is the second to be printed.
I am extremely grateful for all the generous help I have received from numerous local residents who have allowed me to interview them and examine deeds and photographs. Mt special thanks are extended to Mike Petty and his colleagues at the Cambridge Collection, to Michael Farrar and his staff at the County Records office, to Jayne Ringrose of the University Library and Pembroke College Archives and to Ruth Newbery for her priceless research into Cambridge newspapers. The generous help and vast local knowledge placed at my disposal by Mr. Stevens has been invaluable in my researches.
The Society gratefully acknowledges the permission granted by the Cambridge Collection for the re-production of photographs. We are indebted to Sally Hayward, a former Lintonian, who has allowed us to use her line drawing of the Mill as the front cover . I would like to extend my thanks to the Society Committee for their help in the selection of appropriate material. The Society acknowledges the help and support given to them by J.B. Printing. My very special thanks go to Janet Whiteside who has spent so many hours in the typing and preparation of the booklet.

Any suggestions, comments or corrections that readers have would be most welcome.
